Peru’s ginger exports drop in value until November 2025

Higher volumes failed to offset lower prices.
Peru exported US$83.5 million of fresh ginger between January and November 2025, an 11% year-on-year decline in value, despite a 10% increase in volume to 48,316 tonnes, according to Agrodata Peru.
The downturn was driven by pricing pressure. The average export price fell 19% to US$1.73 per kilo, compared with US$2.13/kg a year earlier.
November shipments reached 6,543 tonnes, generating US$9.99 million at an average price of US$1.53/kg. In November 2024, exports totalled US$12.19 million on similar volumes, underscoring the scale of the price drop.
The United States remained the main destination, accounting for 55% of export value (US$45.86 million). The Netherlands followed with 22% (US$18.31 million), while Germany (5%) and Canada (4%) were the next largest markets. Other destinations, including Spain, the UK, Belgium, India and the Dominican Republic, each held marginal shares.
