Peru onion exports rise slightly in early 2026

Fresh onion exports from Peru totalled 52,436,860 kg worth $20,603,378 in the first two months of 2026, marking modest growth compared with the same period last year, according to data from Agrodata.
In January, shipments reached 33,951,609 kg valued at $13,193,330, up from 30,659,395 kg and $12,528,276 in January 2025.
In February, exports totalled 18,485,251 kg worth $7,410,048, also slightly higher than 17,911,190 kg and $7,236,558 recorded a year earlier.
Average export prices remained stable at around $0.39–$0.40 per kg, broadly in line with 2025 levels.
Spain continued to dominate as the main destination for Peruvian fresh onions in early 2026, accounting for 42% of export value, equivalent to $8,658,480. The United States ranked second with 29% ($5,935,861), followed by Colombia with 20% ($4,181,142). Smaller markets included the Dominican Republic (2%, $486,642) and Haiti (2%, $438,287), while other destinations combined represented 5% of total exports.
