Pears and apples in Russian market in mid-July

As new crop is on threshold of the market the sales became significantly more slow during last two weeks. Polish apples finally stopped the race in long lasting marathon of 2007, no more sales. It was a consequence of general aggravation in sales of Red apples which are not that sound in the end of a season as before. Red varieties from previous Argentine arrivals were offered from 1,08 US$/kg, new ones - 1,26 US$/kg. Anyway Chilean apples due to their quality stayed on higher level - 1,37 US$/kg. For the Granny the level was the same as for Chilean Red with only difference that Granny are not much on the market. Taking into account that US dollar dropped again in Russia the prices might be 0,015 US$/kg lower with an old ratio.
The pear market was tough towards old crop Conference. During more than a week this variety was not moving at all despite of extremely low prices - less than 1 US$/kg. In the meantime Packhams were running on high level with the great demand for it. Argentine pears were sold on level 1,69 US$/kg, South African - 1,655 US$/kg. Traders are waiting new crop Guyiot variety from France which starts to run since next week on.
