With the aim of opening new avenues for Chile's fresh cherry exports, Claudia Soler, executive director of the Chilean Fruit Cherry Committee, participated in the ‘Luohu-Shenzhen-Chile Economic and Trade Cooperation Meeting’.
The event took place last Thursday in Santiago (Chile) and was attended by a delegation from Luohu District, Shenzhen, headed by Fan Defan, director of the District Committee, and other representatives of Shenzhen trade and development.
The meeting also included Ma Keqiang, Counsellor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Chile; Ignacio Recart (ProChile); Kamelia Emilova (CHICIT), among others.
During the meeting, Soler emphasised the relevance of such events to open new export avenues to Luohu, highlighting the committee's focus on expanding and diversifying its presence in China, especially in Shenzhen, where 36% of Chilean exports make their entry.
Shenzhen is recognised for its dynamic economic growth and has established itself as a hub in China, part of one of the world's largest metropolitan areas, along with Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Luohu has distinguished itself for its excellent business climate, evidencing a 200% increase in the number of companies established in the last five years due to policies supporting business establishment.
The population of this metropolitan area amounts to 21 million people, with an average age of 33 years, and almost half of them are young people between 4 and 35 years old, which represents a considerable potential market for fresh cherries from Chile.
