Since 1 October, the EU has opened its doors more widely to Moroccan exports of fruits and vegetables.
The new agreement for trade liberalisation between the EU and Morocco came into force on 1 October 2012.
This agreement creates new import quotas well above the previous ones. Since the first discussions
in 2009, this agreement is controversial and opposed by the major agricultural organizations in the south of the EU. Producers believe that it will be devastating for the fruit and vegetable sector in Europe.
