Citrus fruit exports in decrease

Export revenues of Peruvian citrus fruit should reach a figure lower than that recorded last year.
The organization of producers Procitrus estimated export sales to U.S. $ 32 million this year, in decrease of 20% compared to sales last year which had reported 40 million dollars.
Last year, the export volume reached 64. 000 tons but this year, volumes are expected to be around 51,000 tons.
The main markets for Peruvian citrus fruit are the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United States and Canada which represent 85% of total shipments. The association is working to open markets in Mexico, Japan, Korea, Chile and Brazil.
