Tulip fields in Konya

The company Asya Lale produces about 300 hecatres, the largest production center of Turkey tulips, 80 different varieties of tulips, to the delight of photographers who are happy to come and photograph the fields in bloom.
Since 2005, the Municipality of Istanbul introduced the Tulip Festival, from 1st to 30th of April each year. All tulips planted for this festival are of Turkish origin and this event is of significant economic importance for many producers in Turkey. This year, 20 million bulbs were planted.
The tulip is the symbolic flower of Turkey, which is found in many slogans.
According to President of the Management Board of Asya Lale, Mr. Ali Yetgin, production should increase. Currently, 30 percent of tulips are for municipalities, 40% to supermarket chains, 10% landscapers and growers and 20% for export.
The main importing countries are Iran, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Jordan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Serbia, Germany and even Holland.The cultivation of flowers and indoor plants is being developed strongly in Turkey and is expected to grow in coming years.
