Hail hits citrus and grape crops

Hail has damaged citrus and grape crops between Willbriggie and Leeton in the New South Wales Riverina.

While confined to a relatively small area, the damage done to some properties was extensive.

Citrus grower Wayne Robinson at Leeton lost half his crop.

"We've gone from packing fruit down to juice," he says.

"We've probably lost $10,000 to $12,000 in fruit itself, but with the other costs associated with it, we've probably up for about $30,000 to $35,000.

"We'd just finished hand thinning and getting all the marked fruit off our trees and you turn around and get a hailstorm."
