Brazil
Tuesday 20 February 2007
Brazilian apple exports this year are forecast at 100,000 tonnes, following a difficult 2006 when drought impacted volumes
Brazilian apple exporters are looking forward to this year's European export campaign where a domestic production deficit should translate into positive sales for the Latin American nation.
The Brazilian apple export crop is on course to rebound to some 100,000 tonnes in 2007, according to the USDA, with production projected to reach 820,000 tonnes.
The outlook is a return to form for Brazil after the crop fell to 656,000 tonnes in 2006 when drought and untimely spring rains impacted production volumes.
