Stable fruit exports
Chile
Friday 26 October 2001
Chilean fruit exports keep steady besides increasing air freight cost and the current economic uncertainty. Shipments towards the USA are the same as previous years and there is no sign of expansion or decrease of this sector. Idem for sea freight, although very controlled, that keeps on shipping lemon and chirimoya as usual. A spokesman of the Chilean exporters added that business could even be better further to recent events and that food sector is unlikely to be affected by economic downturn.
