Electronic trade platform in Italy

The Italian department of agriculture has launched an electronic fresh produce trading platform. The exchange, known as BMTI, is aimed at reducing prices by cutting out intermediaries in the distribution channel. The project will initially be run with almost 1000 traders and will be evaluated after a pilot phase.
