About 400K MT of citrus will remain on the trees, according to Rafael Cervera, general secretary of the association UPA. The Valencian government recently approved a financing proposition to retrieve 220K MT of citrus from the market. According to Cristóbal Aguado, president of the Valencian association of growers AVA, 30% of the crop will remain on the trees because the grower prices for oranges are 10 cents per kg. Representatives of different grower associations want a declaration of crisis from the government as soon as possible.
