Peru increases its production acreage

For next season, Peru is increasing its production area . The total area for the 2012-2013 period will reach 2,182,676 hectares, an increase of 3.3% (70.700 acres) compared to 2011 to 2012, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG).
The information comes from the National Survey of MINAG, completed in May on projects for the next planting season. Of 22 annual crops expected, only 6 will have lower surfaces: rice (-0.7%), potatoes (-0.2%), cotton (- 13.3%), onion (- 4.3%), sweet potatoes (-11.2%), garlic (-32.8%).
All other products will increase their production area.
