Austria: food consumptions improved in 2007

Reaching a turnover by 5.03 billion euros, sales of fresh food products in Austria increased by 5.3% in 2007 compared to 2006.
According to a survey carried out by AMA, the Austrian agency for the food products’ valorization, discount markets most of all benefited from this growth, expanding their market presence and participation.
As far as products are concerned, the request of pre-cooked foods has increased (by 2.4% in value compared to 2006, reaching 353 million euros). Organics too are registering great results, holding a market share by 5.2% of the agro-food sector’s overall turnover.
