Large expansion of convenience stores

In China, convenient stores expect to increase their sales tenfold by 2015 as Japanese operators provide extensive expansion plans.
The huge Chinese market promises to be lucrative for chains of convenience stores in Japan that have large expansion plans.
With the rapid urbanization of China, sales of the stores are expected to rise from $1 billion in 2010 to $10 billion in 2015 with the number of outlets to increase by 11% per year, according to analysts.
Foreign operators currently account for only 14% of the market but the Japanese chains like 7-Eleven, FamilyMart
and Lawson have extensive expansion plans to increase their presence in China.
Lawson, the second Japanese chain of convenience stores, with only 300 stores in China estimates 10,000 stores within 5 years. Ministop, which owns 22 stores plans to have 5,000 by 2020 and Seven-Eleven, the largest chain of convenience stores in Japan, expects to add signifantly to its 1719 stores in China, without revealing its targets.
