Producers in Brittany and Flanders from Freshcoop has the goal of preventing overproduction for five major vegetables (cauliflower, leeks, tomatoes, endives and peppers.
An organisation of French and Belgian producers has been formed to prevent overproduction.
Freshcoop is the first European Association of producer organizations. Brittany (Sica Saint-Pol-de-Leon, the Cooperative Union Paimpol-Tréguier Lands of Saint-Malo) and the regional association founded Cerafel Freshcoop with 3 Belgian producer organisations and their regional association, Lava .
The objective of Freshcoop is to prevent the overproduction for the 5 main vegetables grown in the two countries: cauliflower
, leeks, tomatoes, endives and peppers. Freshcoop will organise and adapt supply to demand with quality, quantity and at competitive prices. Freshcoop gathers information about planted areas and prices paid to producers.
Production volumes remain the control of the producer organisations will continue to sell under their brands Flandria and Prince de Bretagne. The two regions, Brittany and Flanders, produce 1.3 million tons of vegetables worth 935 million euros.
