Exceptional harvest of apricots

This year the production of Canton Valais will respond to half of the Swiss consumption.

Exceptional harvest is expected in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. Favorable weather conditions allowed optimal crop development.

The IFELV (Interprofession of fruits and vegetables of Valais) estimates that production will be increased by +11% compared to 2013, with 7200 tons marketed in the distribution and nearly 3,000 tons intended for direct sales and distillation .

In addition to the favorable weather, the industry welcomes the renewal of orchards led for twenty years in the canton. These changes have helped to double the harvest period, which now lasts 8 weeks.
