Indonesian professionals are optimistic about their fruit exports, which increased significantly in Q1 2018, confirming the strengthening of global demand for tropical fruits.
Indonesian fruit exports increased by 6.13% to 325,236 tonnes in the first quarter of 2018. This increase confirms the strengthening of the global demand for tropical fruits, particularly the growing demand for mangos, bananas and sweet pineapple. The strongest demand for Indonesian fruits comes from China, Japan, Singapore, Australia and the United States.
The Ministry of Agriculture has been optimistic about foreign demand for Indonesian fruits over the next few quarters. Improved methods and processes have enabled Indonesian products to conquer new markets, such as Europe and Oman. Among the target markets for increasing Indonesian exports: the Middle East (Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates), West Asia and Africa.
