Increase of 55,000 tonnes for pistachio production this year

In Iran, pistachio production is better this year than last year and the expected total volume is 55,000 tonnes higher.
According to IDFEA (Iran Dried Fruit Exporters Association) pistachio production is expected to increase by 55,000 tonnes in the current Iranian calendar year (ending March 20, 2021) compared to the previous year. The expected volume this year is 230,000 tonnes.
In the previous Iranian year (ended March 19, 2020), China was the top destination for pistachios in the country, followed by Europe and Arab countries.
Despite the increase in production, Iranian producers face problems in exporting their products. Because of the sanctions that some business partners take advantage of to delay payments, according to Iranian professionals.
According to data from 2018, the main producing countries are Iran with 551,307 tonnes, the United States with 447,700 tonnes and Turkey with 240,000 tonnes.
