Gel has resulted in an 80% decline in citrus production in two regions of Argentina.
In Argentina, gel has caused enormous damage.
During the first week of June, a sharp drop in temperature (20 ° to -5 °) and the persistence of frost for thirty hours have severely affected citrus production.
In the departments of Federacion, Concordia, Monte
Caseros (Entre Ríos and Corrientes regions) there were 100,000 hectares affected. Producers lost 80% of production, and some mandarin varieties lost 100%.
Next season's harvest will also be compromised. In 2013 and production will decline by at least 30 to 40% compared to this year.
