The commission to evaluate the harvest date of the fig Bursa, known around the world for its size, its taste and quality, decided to advance the date of August 10th to the 9th of August, since the weather particularly hot, having favored fruit maturity.
90 percent of Turkish black figs are harvested in the Bursa region, which typically harvest about 25 000 tonnes per year, of which about 60-70 percent are exported, providing excellent income for its producers.
This year, an alarm had been given so that producers do not use a chemical, Ethepon, allowing earlier maturity of the fruit, up to putting fines for those who used it.
