Japan has authorized the opening of its market to Argentine citrus.
The authorities of the two countries confirmed the opening of the Japanese market for Argentine citrus. From now on, Japan allows the import of orange (Washington Navel varieties, Lane Late, Salustiana) and tangerines (varieties Clémentina, Ellendale, Murcott, Nova), treated with cold, from Argentina.
Japan imported last year 111,000 tons of oranges and 16 000 tons of mandarins, for an amount of $ 128 million for oranges and $ 28 million for mandarins. Currently, the main suppliers of the Japanese market is the United States, Australia and South Africa for oranges, the United States, Australia and Israel for mandarins.
