A cyclone is now threatening Queensland
MD
As powerful as Katrina, which devastated New Orleans, a huge tropical cyclone is moving to Queensland, recently hit by floods.
According to meteorologists, Yasi is one of the worst cyclones in recent years. The cyclone should be accompanied by gusts over 250 km / h when approaching the coast of Queensland.
Winds and rains will be felt hundreds of miles. Yasi is currently above the Coral Sea off northeastern Australia. It should make landfall between Cairns (122,000 inhabitants) and Innisfail (10,000 inhabitants) located a hundred kilometers south of Cairns.
Yasi is expected for Thursday morning on coast of north-east. Evacuation orders have begun and ports are closed.
