Chilean kiwi exports surpass estimates

The industry will now focus on orchard management and raising maturity standards to maintain quality in 2026.
Chile’s kiwi sector closed the 2025 season on a positive note, exporting 146,603 tonnes, up 2% from last year and above expectations — despite record supply from New Zealand. The Chilean Kiwi Committee attributes the strong performance to consistent quality, larger calibres, and better flavor, which supported demand in Europe, Latin America, North America, and India.
Looking ahead to 2026, the industry warns of a higher flower load in orchards and stresses the need for careful thinning to avoid smaller, lower-quality fruit. The committee will also begin raising minimum harvest maturity standards from next season, with full implementation by 2027, to reinforce Chile’s premium positioning in global markets.
