Sicily’s citrus fruit market is declining. During the first two weeks of January the industry registered a reduction of average prices.
According to surveys carried out by the national institute for agrofood statistics ISMEA, a slowing down of exchanges is taking place in the island both for the blond and red varieties.
In Sicily’s production regions harvesting has been going on gradually, considering the limited demand from the market.
For mandarins too the market showed to be quite behind.
Therefore the limited supplies of citrus fruits were sold on the market at quite reduced prices.
