Lack of carton hinders fruit exports
Chile
Tuesday 10 April 2007
Chilean grapes, pears, apples and kiwis exporters are angry and frustrated of a serious lack of carton boxes for packing their fruit. Producers of boxes have many problems with orders they took and now they lack production capacity. This shortage results in long periods of waiting for the customers or receiving only 20 or 30% of their total orders. Exporters and producers, but also shipping companies are all affected by changing programs and reduced export volumes.
