Turkey exceeds one billion dollars in hazelnuts exports

First world exporter of hazelnuts, Turkey has just exceeded 1 billion dollar.
Turkey, world’s largest hazelnut exporter, has earned $1.1 billion from hazelnut exports in the first nine months of the export season that began in September 2009.
The Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters’ Association said that Turkey had exported 178,823 tons of hazelnuts between September 2009 and May 31, earning $1.1 billion.
Turkey exported 133,681 tons of hazelnuts to European Union member states, 20,504 tons to non-EU European countries and 24,638 tons to non-European countries. In the first nine months of the previous season (September 2008-May 31, 2009), Turkey had exported 201,290 tons of hazelnuts for a total $956.6 million.
