Argentina is going to export to Colombia lemon, orange, garlic and will import Colombian bananas.
SENASA (Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria) has authorized the entry of Colombian bananas into Argentina. Argentina will see the Colombian market opening for citrus fruits and garlic.
After negotiations with its Colombian counterpart and various quality controls, SENASA authorized the entry of Colombian bananas into Argentina. ICA (Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario) has published phytosanitary requirements for the import of Argentinian oranges, lemons and garlic to Colombia.
The two countries consider that these openings constitute favorable opportunities for the development of their agricultural sectors. Argentina is the main exporter of lemon and the second largest exporter of garlic in the world. As far as oranges are concerned, Argentina is already exporting these fruits to the European Union, Russia and other Latin American countries.
