Peru’s trade sector closed August with record-breaking momentum, underscoring the country’s growing strength and resilience in global markets.
Peru’s exports achieved a historic milestone in August 2025, totalling USD 8.729 billion, according to data from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur). This marks the highest monthly export value ever recorded, reflecting the country’s strong external performance despite global market challenges.
The exceptional result was underpinned by the robust growth of traditional exports, particularly agricultural goods, combined with sustained diversification in non-traditional shipments.
According to Mincetur, 20 regions across Peru increased their exports in August, with several posting triple-digit growth rates. The strongest gains came from Huánuco (+229%), San Martín (+107%), Amazonas (+72%), and Junín (+67%), followed by solid performances from Ucayali, Pasco, and Cajamarca. These results highlight the expanding geographic base of Peru’s export sector and the growing contribution of regional producers to national trade.
The report also noted a significant rise in the country’s trade surplus, which reached USD 2.578 billion, compared with USD 2.155 billion in August 2024. This improvement stems from export growth outpacing import levels, strengthening Peru’s external accounts.
With export levels approaching USD 9 billion per month, Peru’s trade sector enters the final quarter of 2025 with renewed momentum and the potential to close the year at another record high.
