Raspberries in the European market in fourth week of June
Serbia
Thursday 03 July 2008
Serbian Raspberry: Prices continue to rise with ex field prices for fresh raw material now reaching €2.3 per kg , whilst we can report this we are still not receiving offers for any grade of raspberry from this source.
Turkish Strawberry: Prices are higher than normal and although we have some product to offer we feel that unless there is a specific requirement for the Tioga variety then Polish fruit will be more cost effective and will have a spread delivery option, Turkish offers are for prompt only at the moment.
Damsons
: The English Damson crop has been wiped out for this season as reported on 27th May. Both the main growing areas were hit by late frosts, Worcestershire has no fruit to offer whilst Kent suppliers will not pick the fruit as there is very little on the trees and it would not be viable.
Polish Raspberry: Early varieties being offered but limited stock and product would be for prompt shipment. Polana crop looks good but in light of the Serbian situation it is likely that pressure will be inevitable when it comes on line in August.
