Nolem will finish another successfull campaign in April

Nolem is the leading producer exporter of melons from Brazil. Taking advantage of the winter season in Europe when Brazil is its main supplier, the exporting season of Nolem starts in August and goes until April. The company supplies over 10 different varieties of melons and watermelons: Yellow Honey Dew, Piel de Sapo, Galia Solar and Royal, Cantaloupe, Italian Cantaloupe, Orange Flesh (Cantaline), White Honey Dew and Watermelon(Seeded and seedless varieties). Also the company launched its organic melon production with the Yellow Honey Dew. Yellow Honey Dew, Galia, Cantaloupe and Watermelons are the most popular varieties in the UK, while Spanish consumers prefer Piel de Sapo. In Italy sales tend to focus on the Yellow melons. Meanwhile, demand in Holland and Germany focuses on Galia ,Yellow melons, Cantaloupe and Watermelons varieties. Nolem manages a total area of 8000 hectares of which 3400 hectares are exclusively dedicated to the cultivation of melons. The area is divided into 4 farms, with different types of soil for different periods of the year and different varieties. Plantations differ on the kinds of soil to obtain the highest quality level for each variety. Nolem designates about 80 % of its production to export. The company settled a production of 10 million cartons of the fruit this season, some 8 million of those used for export market. The main target markets are Scandinavia, Holland, UK, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, France, USA and Canada. Nolem is constantly evaluating the potential of new markets and will place new emphasis on developing sales to Eastern Europe. Opportunities could arise in fewer markets such as Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia, in addition of boosting supplies to Italy and France. The company also consolidates its position in a number of other markets, mainly in Spain. Nolem is a pioneer in the US market, where it has exported for the last four years and is increasing its volumes every year.
