Despite the difficulties associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, the year 2021 could be a "golden year" for Thai fruit exporters. Over the period January to July 2021, exports recorded an increase of + 48.3% in value compared to the same period last year.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, fruit exports between January and July 2021 increased by + 48.3% in value compared to the same period last year. Generating 131 billion THB (3.917 billion USD).
China is Thailand's No.1 fruit destination, accounting for around 83% of the volume of Thai fresh fruit exports. The other importing countries are Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea. These countries mainly import durian, mangosteen, longan and mango from Thailand.
This increase in exports is attributed to promotional activities, notably the "Golden Month of Thai Fruits" which took place in 8 Chinese cities. This promotion was such a success that it will be resumed in 5 other Chinese cities by the end of the year, said the Ministry of Commerce.
