In Paris (France) and Zagreb (Croatia) the teams were treated to a triumphal welcome.
The team of France world champion of the FIFA World Cup 2018, have had a memorable return to their countries.
France won the 2018 FIFA World Cup. French coach Didier Deschamps in his post-match press conference stressed that there has been a leveling off this year. The "small" teams arrived with an unprecedented level of athletic preparation and the so-called "favorite" teams suffered many setbacks.
"It's the most complicated first-round pool matches, and then, with the knockout rounds, the importance and the tension were there..."
The players of the French team benefited from a physical preparation that was thought to be at the top of their game from knockout matches. After a flawless 1st round, the players fully entered the competition with their match against Argentina (4-3) in the quarter finale.
