Increase in the value of Italian exports in 2020

Italian exports recorded in 2020 an increase of + 5.8% in terms of value (Photo: ortofruttaitalia.it).
The year 2020 turns out to be positive for Italian fruit and vegetable exports, which total a slight decline (-2.8%) in terms of volume but an increase of + 5.8% in terms of value.
Fruitimprese, based on data from Istat, established the 2020 results for Italian exports and imports. The value of exports exceeds 4.8 billion EUR, the value of imports 4.1 billion EUR.
With just over 3.5 million tonnes, Italian exports show a decline in exported quantities of 2.8% compared to 2019. But in value, Italian exports have increased by + 5.8%, exceeding 4.8 billion EUR.
By product, apples are at the top of the ranking by volume and show a value of + 13.47% compared to 2019. Next, table grapes (+ 9.95%), kiwi (+ 5.31%) , orange (+ 7.44%), lemon (+ 22.26%). On the other hand, a difficult year for the peach / nectarine (-18.9%) and for the pear (-10.32%).
In 2020 Italian imports reached in volume a little more than 3.6 million tonnes (-2.5% compared to 2019) and in value 4.1 billion (-1.2% compared to 2019). The main imported products were bananas (+ 6.95% in volume and + 0.14% in value) and pineapples (-14.85% in volume and -24.34% in value).
