The goal is to evaluate the mandarins' ability to withstand low temperatures and their potential yield.
Kyrgyzstan is set to begin testing new varieties of mandarins in the Batken region in 2025, according to local media. The Ministry of Agriculture announced that cold-resistant seedlings will be imported from Turkey to see how well they adapt to the local climate.
The goal is to evaluate the mandarins' ability to withstand low temperatures and their potential yield. If the trials go well, Kyrgyzstan may start producing mandarins locally, adding more variety to domestic fruit production and reducing reliance on imports.
