The stock of apples is still important, but the market could clarify if the imports are delayed.
The services of the ministry of Agriculture indicated that the stocks of French apples in January, 2010 were superior to those observed in January, 2009.
The stock would amount to 615.000 tons, what represent 7 % more with regard to the same period of the last year, while the harvest was in decline of 2 %.
In order that the producers can sell these stocks, the labour union Rural Coordination, asked that the campaign of import of apples from the southern hemisphere which is about to start, is delayed by reminding that " the sector knows disastrous years since 2007, in particular in 2008-2009 because of strong imports which disrupted the market ".
