Apple production in full swing

Morocco produces apples, growing potatoes , which allowed it to reduce its imports.
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture , apples surfaces cover 30 000 hectares. Production reached 600,000 tons in 2013. Either an average yield of 20 tonnes / ha.
The average annual production increased from 383,000 tonnes for the period 2003/08 to 490 000 tonnes for the period 2008/13 , an increase of 28%.With the rise of domestic production, imports decreased.
In 2009/10 the Morocco imported 14,000 tonnes of apples but only 5 000 tonnes in 2014. The main suppliers are France and Italy.
