This season, for the first time, more than half of the volume of fresh grapes exported from Chile will be of new varieties.
Specifically, it will be 53%, according to the second estimate for October made by the ASOEX Table Grape Committee, which translates into an increase of 49% compared to the previous season.
Although there is a forecasts of a 7.7% decline in total shipment volumes this season, the Committee's second estimate reflects growth in exports of new varieties.
In this campaign, Chile will export more than 36 million boxes of grapes of new varieties (+14% year-on-year).
48% of these exports will be of the red varieties, 39% of the white ones and 13% of the black ones.
It should be remembered that in November and December, two more estimates will be made, to continue tracking external changes that adjust the estimate for Chilean cherries.
