Chile will expand its range of Gala apples with 2 new varieties

Starting from next year, 2 new varieties of Gala apples will be available.
ANA (Andes New Varieties Administration) introduced 2 new apple varieties Galaval and Jugala that will be available for planting by farmers in 2014. Varieties of French origin, Galaval and Jugala are mutant strains of Gala.
The variety Galaval (from a mutation with Galaxy) offers exceptional color, red purple color, its flavor is balanced, its size is average. For Jugala variety (from a mutation with Mitchgala), size is bigger, the color is bright red, with a maturity 5-7 days before Gala, which can be interesting for producers.
