HaciendasBio produces organic asparagus since mid-January
In the next five months HaciendasBio expects to produce 580,000 kilos of asparagus, of which 35% will go to the German market, 15% to France and the rest will be distributed between Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and the United Kingdom, among other countries.
HaciendasBio achieves an early production of green, white and purple asparagus, thanks to a strong investment commitment carried out over the past 5 years in I+D area. Efforts have mainly focused on the development of innovative forced technology in Extremadura and Almeria farms.
“Currently, Hacienda Bio is one of the very few companies and may be the unique to offer seasonal asparagus to the market since week 3, during 17 weeks. For HaciendasBio, produce seasonal, healthy, tasty and 100% organic products is our main objective. In that sense, our efforts are now focused on lengthening in a natural way the usual seasons of harvesting the fruits and vegetables that we produce.
On this way, consumer benefits from its properties and its flavour for a longer time. throughout the year”, says Paco Casallo, CEO of HaciendasBio.
Key factors in early asparagus production:
In addition to the investigation of new varieties and cultivation methods, the strategic location of the farms is very important, which have climatic and orographic characteristics that favour the cultivation.
The company has 54 hectares destined for the production of asparagus distributed in Extremadura: Rincón de Caya farm (green, white and purple asparagus) and Cantillana farm (white asparagus), and in Almería: Pujaire farm (purple asparagus).
Lands are very close to rivers surrounded by nature that attract biodiversity.
