Decrease of export volumes

During the first six months of 2001, Spanish fruit and vegetables exports dropped by 3.6% in volume compared to 2000, with only 4.8 million tons, but they increased by 7.2% in value. On a fruit level, drop is due to the reduction of citrus fruit exports (-17%) to 1.5 million tons. The areas of Valencia, Andalousia, Murcia and Canarias represent 94% of the country' s exports.
