Engineers develop laser vision tool

Engineers at the Agricultural Research Service in The USA have developed a machine vision device that can predict fruit qualities such a firmness and sweetness. The machine vision tool, which is in prototype stage, uses the amount of light that is absorbed or reflected in the fruit to determine firmness and sweetness. So far it has been tested on apples and pears.
