As part of border controls to combat the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Interior Ministry announced that seasonal workers will no longer be allowed to enter Germany.
Germany has prohibited since Wednesday the entry into its territory of foreign seasonal workers. This limitation is essential to slow the spread of the infection, the ministry said.
The measure even applies to nationals of member states of the European Union, in particular Romania and Poland.
Each year the German agricultural sector recruits around 300,000 foreign seasonal workers.
