Tomato exports to European markets increase by 9.5%

Highly positive development for Spanish tomato exports
For the first half of 2013, the Spanish tomato exports reached 640,960 tons to European markets. An increase of 9.5% compared to the same period last year.
From these 640,960 tons exported, the EU received 602,425 tonnes (94% of total), an increase of 7% compared to 2012. Germany is the main country of destination with 132,888 tonnes (+11% compared to 2012), followed by France with 95 471 tonnes (+5%) and the United Kingdom with 87 781 tonnes (+3%) .
The development is also very positive on markets outside the EU. Russia became the main non-EU destination, with 24,059 tonnes, the double of 2012. Belarus received 5,622 tonnes this year against 543 tonnes last year.
