Tengelmann to replace small discount stores

The German group Tengelmann is to replace its Spanish small discount stores by large-format supermarkets. The group aims at opening 45 stores a year and starts unveiling 10 outlets this month. The retailer recorded a 39% increase in sales to EUR378 million for 2001.
