Japan resumes its exports to Hong Kong

One year after the disaster of 11 March, Hong Kong plans to lift restrictions on imports of Japanese food products.
Japanese food exports to Hong Kong will resume, said the statement of the Secretary of Health of Hong Kong following his meeting with Japanese Minister of Agriculture. Hong Kong, the largest importer of Japanese agricultural products will soon partially lift restrictions on food imports from Japan.
This statement raises hopes in Japan
that other countries could do likewise, easing restrictions on food.
Japanese exports of agricultural, forestry and sea food to Hong Kong last year fell 8.1% to 111 billion Y. Exports to the U.S. fell 2.9% to Y 66 billion and exports to Taiwan decreased by 3.0% to 59 billion Y.
