The surfaces recede but outcome rise

In France the surfaces dedicated to melons for the 2015 campaign cover 13 100 hectares, or - 3% compared to the areas of the 2014 campaign.

According to the data of Agreste ( Ministry of Agriculture ) greenhouse crops represent 700 hectares , crops under sheds 6,000 hectares and crops outdoor 6,300 hectares. The production areas are reduced by 450 hectares compared to the previous year and 1,300 hectares compared to the 2010-14 average.

Production in 2015 is estimated at 242 600 tonnes, a decline of - 1 % over 1 year and 9% compared to the 2010-14 average. Peak production is expected beyond 14 July .
