Mexican Hass avocado production is estimated at 1.8 million tonnes for 2016-17
World leader in the production of avocados Mexico also has another asset with the export of guacamole.
The activity is run by packers and official statistics are lacking. However USDA, the US Department of Agriculture, estimates that Mexico exports 170,000 tons of guacamole per year. Guacamole is exported mainly to the United States as well as to Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Mexican Hass avocado production is estimated at 1.8 million tons in the 2016-17 marketing cycle. The Michoacán region is the world leader in avocado production and accounts for 80% of total Mexican production.
