Live from Macfrut (Rimini) : Uzbekistan has great offer as stone fruits, cherries, peaches, abricots
Met in Macfrut show, Mr Ulugbek Bekchanov, Senior Marketing & Export Advisor at DAI explains how the association is training Uzbek growers to ameliorate their exports in fruit & veg.
DAI is a North American consulting company with lots of partners in Uzbekistan where they are collaborating with for the last 20 years. Since Uzbekistan independance back in 1991, agricultural has gradually switched crops from coton to fruit & vegetables. All types of fruit and vegetables are growing there except tropical fruit.
Met in Macfrut show, Mr Ulugbek Bekchanov, Senior Marketing & Export Advisor at DAI explains : « Uzbekistan can offer good fruits and vegetables, and more particularly for stone fruits, cherries, peaches, abricots, grapes, pomegranates, from May to October. »
Financed by USAID, an American program for agricultural Department, DAI is developing different ressources for Uzbek growers and exporters. First of all, DAI actively works with growers to ameliorate production of fruit & vegetables. Second, the association is also assisting and training on post-harvest and cold chain process, in order to introduce new technologies and ameliorate fruit storage and shelf-life.
Third mission is to help those growers to export on worldwide markets. This has been done with trade fair participation as here in Macfrut. Complementary programs are done with Fructidor.com team in order to arrange connections with world fruit buyers.
Last, DAI is also collaborating with public sector for improvement of education program with local agricultural department. This has been the 3re participation for Uzbekistan and DAI in Macfrut.
Mr Ulugbek Bekchanov points out : « Macfrut is a good show, that is why we are pleased to come again every year. This year we have 4 companies as exhibitors and 3 other companies who are here as visitors. Premium Agro Product from Tashkent is specialized in dried vegetables : carrots, cabbage, pepper, eggplant. They already export to Russia, Germany, Belgium… Theodora Group is a grower of eco-friendly fresh and dried nuts, grapes, abricots and many more. Frutata is proposing fresh and chips made with variuos fruits : apples, pears, abricots, figs… Green Desert proposes ecofruit as dried fruits, nuts in bulk and beans 100% natural. A new range of organic raisins will arrive soon».
