International Environment Day is the most important annual event for positive environmental action.
The United Nations, recognizing that the protection and improvement of the environment is a major issue affecting the well-being of people and economic development throughout the world, has designated the 5th, of June International Environment Day.
Since its inception in 1974, this day has become a global public awareness platform widely celebrated around the world.
Every year, International Environment Day is organized by a different host country, where official celebrations take place. The host country this year is Canada.
The Day is organized around a theme to draw the attention of the public to a particularly urgent environmental concern and this year the theme is "Bringing people closer to nature".
